It does not matter when you register your BVI Company. There is no specific time
that is significantly more advantageous. January and July incorporations offer
the longest time before the BVI Company's renewal fee is due. However, this is
not the point we are trying to explain today.
The time to register an offshore company is at the beginning of the business,
transaction or corporate structure you plan to get involved in. There is no rule
that says you have to do it this way. It is just our preference.
The reason is because we dislike the idea of restructuring an already
established situation to gain a new benefit. When someone restructures, they may
bring attention to themselves from the affected party(ies). The party that has
lost the benefit they were getting before may now try to find out why. We never
know where this might lead to (if anywhere) or if any recourse is possible (or
This kind of situation happens all the time in life and we don't always get the
optimal situation to work with. So we work with what we have. We would just
prefer that this situation be avoided.
We understand that not all your business ideas will be successful. However, if
you plan to use an offshore company at some point in your business then we would
suggest that you do it from the start. You can always discontinue the use of
your offshore company if your business idea does not take off.
